The CMRB Regional Growth Plan is an exploration of regional planning and policy. The final project was the synthesis of three phases. First, students analyzed the existing Calgary Municipal Region Board growth plan to identify goals, opportunities and weaknesses. Next, students created a functional network diagram to establish critical influencing factors, connections and intersections. Finally, students begin crafting a new 30-year growth plan for the CMRB. Students were tasked with identifying a vision, goals and strategy for the CMRB. From preliminary analysis, students identified climate change, indigenous knowledge and equity as essential and overarching drivers of the updated growth plan. Overarching drivers allowed students to create individual policy areas and written policy in one (transit) of these critical areas.
